SUMMARY:ACES: Introduction to Perl
DESCRIPTION:This short course covers basic to intermediate level topics wit
h live illustrations and hands-on exercises using the Jupyter notebook web
application.\n\nResearchers are using Perl for various scientific computa
tions, such as biological data analysis (Bioinformatics) and other applica
tions. By using Perl, you can quickly write programs which will run on a v
ariety of computer platforms. If you are familiar with Perl, you can also
edit programs written by other researchers or third-party providers.\n\nPe
rl has powerful text processing and I/O capabilities, which you can easily
use with the operators and functions built into the Perl language. You ca
n also take advantage of Perl's numerous library extensions, which impleme
nt a wide variety of useful tools.\n\nThis class will provide an introduct
ion to the Perl programming language. We will explore the elements of the
language through interactive examples.\n\nMore information about this sho
