SUMMARY:A Practical Introduction to Apptainer on Bridges-2
DESCRIPTION:You are invited to attend a comprehensive, in-person workshop h
osted at the University of Puerto Rico. This workshop is designed for prof
essionals and enthusiasts seeking to deepen their understanding of contain
erization in HPC systems. The workshop will provide focused exploration o
f Apptainer on Bridges-2, offering participants an opportunity to gain pra
ctical insights and knowledge in this area.Apptainer streamlines container
creation and execution processes. This session will focus on practical ap
plications, including:- Deployment of legacy and developmental code- Deplo
yment of useful utilities using Anaconda- Initiation of services- Multi-la
yered builds- Containerization and adherence to FAIR principles (Findable,
Accessible, Interoperable, Reusable)This workshop is open to members of
PR-INBRE Bioinformatics Community of Practice (BiCoP).Who should attend? F
aculty, research staff and students looking to learn more about containeri
zation on Bridges-2.Why should I attend? Faculty and research staff membe
rs stand to gain valuable insights by learning how containers enhance repr
oducibility within the framework of open science and the FAIR principles.
Understanding containerization techniques empowers researchers to increase
the credibility and impact of their work, facilitate collaboration, strea
mline research workflows, ensure research longevity, strengthen funding op
portunities, and foster ongoing professional development. These skills not
only contribute to individual research endeavors but also promote transpa
rency, rigor, and efficiency within the broader scientific community.Break
fast and lunch will be provided.
