SUMMARY:WEBINAR: The Open Storage Network as a Storage Solution for NSF CC
 * and Other Program Solicitations
DESCRIPTION:In this webinar, we will introduce the storage network, discuss
requirements for joining, and address how the OSN can help meet NSF CC* p
rogrammatic requirements. We will look at how organizations are using the
OSN today, cover common workflows that we support, and look at opportuniti
es on how OSN can be leveraged for future proposals with particular focus
on AI/ML and generative AI workloads. We will then conclude with an open d
iscussion to answer any questions. The Open Storage Network (OSN), funded b
y the NSF, the Schmidt Futures Foundation and Dalio Philanthropies, has de
veloped a storage platform to support scientific and scholarly production
using cost effective, performant systems connected at high speeds via Inte
rnet2. The OSN provides an industry-standard cyberinfrastructure (CI) serv
ice using opensource software to address specific data storage, transfer,
sharing, and access challenges by providing object storage as a service.Wh
ile originally designed as “just” a low-friction data sharing platform
, projects and organizations are starting to deploy services on top of OSN
as part of their larger CI plans. We now allow Universities, Non-Profit O
rganizations, and Government labs to purchase their own OSN appliance, whi
ch we then support. Over the last few years, six separate organizations ha
ve used OSN as the solution for their winning NSF CC* Data Storage proposa
 ls.
