SUMMARY:Performance Tuning and Optimization (Advanced HPC-CI Webinar Series
 )
DESCRIPTION:This webinar is an abbreviated version of the Performance Tunin
 g session that is offered at SDSC’s HPC and Data Science Summer Institut
 e. It is targeted at attendees who do their own code development and need
 their calculations to finish as quickly as possible. We will cover the eff
 ective use of cache, loop-level optimizations, force reductions, optimizin
 g compilers and their limitations, short-circuiting, time-space tradeoffs
 and more. Exercises will be done mostly in C, but emphasis will be on gene
 ral techniques that can be applied in any language.InstructorRobert Sinkov
 its, Director of Education and Training, SDSCDr. Sinkovits leads the educa
 tion and training efforts at the San Diego Supercomputer Center, where he
 has been a computational scientist for more than 25 years. He has collabor
 ated with researchers spanning many fields including physics, chemistry, a
 stronomy, structural biology, finance, ecology, climate, immunology, and t
 he social sciences, always with an emphasis on making the most effective u
 se of high-performance computing resources. Dr. Sinkovits is the PI for th
 e COMPLECS CyberTraining project and co-PI for the Voyager and Expanse sup
 ercomputer awards.See a full list of SDSC's upcoming training and events h
