SUMMARY:COMPLECS: Linux Shell Scripting
DESCRIPTION:SummaryShell scripting is an effective tool for boosting produc
tivity and reducing errors in HPC workflows.  Shell scripts can be used t
o streamline  pre- and post-processing tasks,  automating repetitive tas
ks,  backups and system monitoring.   In this session, we assume that pa
rticipants have experience with  basic Linux operations on command-line t
ools. Topics covered include intro to shells,  shell scripting  syntax,
constructs and operators, and tips for effective Bash shell scripting. In
structorNicole Wolter is a Computational and Data Science Research Special
ist in the High-Performance Computing User Services Group at SDSC. She cur
rently manages the accounts and allocations and provides user support for
the three HPC systems at SDSC. Nicole graduated from San Diego State Unive
rsity with a degree in Computer Science in 2001. She is currently involved
in working with and helping users porting their AI applications to SDSC
’s NSF funded AI supercomputer - Voyager.See a full list of SDSC's upcom
ing training and events here.--- COMPLECS (COMPrehensive Learning for end
-users to Effectively utilize CyberinfraStructure) is a new SDSC program w
here training will cover non-programming skills needed to effectively use
supercomputers. Topics include parallel computing concepts, Linux tools an
d bash scripting, security, batch computing, how to get help, data managem
ent and interactive computing. Each session offers 1 hour of instruction f
ollowed by a 30-minute Q&A. COMPLECS is supported by NSF award 2320934.
