SUMMARY:COMPLECS: Code Migration
DESCRIPTION:SummaryWe will cover typical approaches to moving your computat
ions to HPC resources – use of applications/software packages already av
ailable on the system through Linux environment modules; compiling code fr
om source with information on compilers, libraries, and optimization flags
to use; setting up Python & R environments; use of conda based environmen
ts; managing workflows; and use of containerized solutions via Singularity
. The session covers general principles, with hands-on activities on SDSC
 resources.InstructorMahidhar Tatineni received his M.S. & Ph.D. in Aerospa
ce Engineering from UCLA. He currently leads the User Services group at SD
SC and has done many optimization and parallelization projects on the supe
rcomputing resources including Gordon, Comet, Expanse and Voyager.See a fu
ll list of SDSC's upcoming training and events here.---COMPLECS (COMPrehen
sive Learning for end-users to Effectively utilize CyberinfraStructure) is
a new SDSC program where training will cover non-programming skills neede
d to effectively use supercomputers. Topics include parallel computing con
cepts, Linux tools and bash scripting, security, batch computing, how to g
et help, data management and interactive computing. Each session offers 1
hour of instruction followed by a 30-minute Q&A. COMPLECS is supported by
 NSF award 2320934.
