SUMMARY:R for HPC
DESCRIPTION:SummaryExtended abstract: In the first session of this webinar,
we will focus on the R package management and user environment configurat
ion on the HPC cluster. We will learn how to run some basic built-in comma
nds in the R Console or RStudio to list, install from source, update, and
remove R packages. We will also introduce how to install R packages with c
onda, which is more convenient for building an isolated environment, but a
lso has some limitations we need to be aware of. We will provide a few exa
mples to configure the user environment to better use R or RStudio for HPC
. Next, in the second session, we will focus on the R parallelization in H
PC. We will provide a few examples of implicit parallelism in R, including
the workflow of the R parallel package to generate the desired R processe
s on a single node or multiple nodes, as well as a few related packages th
at can parallelize and enhance the data importing and computing performanc
e of R programs.InstructorYuwu Chen received his PhD from Louisiana State
University in chemical engineering with an emphasis on molecular dynamics
simulation of proteins. Yuwu’s key responsibility is to provide a high d
egree of HPC customer support and professionalism to the research communit
ies of UCSD and other institutions. He is a Singularity user and has provi
ded Singularity user support for HPC users since 2019.See a full list of S
