06/04/26 - 1:00 PM to 06/05/26 - 3:00 PM EDT

Location

Denver, Colorado

Gabrielle Allen of The University of Wyoming, in collaboration with the Computing Research Association (CRA), and faculty at Loyola University Chicago, and the College of Charleston, invite educators and researchers at Research Emerging Institutions with Small-Medium Computing Departments involved in incorporating advanced AI in coursework (machine learning, neural networks, intensive GPU processes) to apply to participate at this NAIRR Pilot national conference. The goal is to build a strong community of practice that expands AI education capacity and leverages shared NAIRR Pilot resources.

Applications will begin being considered March 20th.

Checking if Your Institution is Eligible:
The primary audience is faculty from computing departments at Research Emerging institutions with Small-Medium Computing Programs.

Research-emerging institutions are universities in the early stages of building research capacity, typically classified outside the R1 tier in the Carnegie Classification system. This includes institutions classified as R2 (Doctoral University – High research activity) or recently R1, D/PU (Doctoral/Professional Universities), M1 (Master’s Colleges and Universities – Large programs), M2 (Master’s Colleges and Universities – Medium programs), or M3 (Master’s Colleges and Universities – Small programs).

Small-to-medium computing programs refers to institutions where the total number of undergraduate and graduate students in computing is fewer than 1,000. Institutions with more than 1,000 computing students are encouraged to participate in the Research Emerging Large conference, while those with
750–1,000 students may choose either track depending on their interests.

If this is not you, please consider applying to attend one of the other CRA Affiliated NAIRR Pilot conferences if eligible.
