How to Write a Successful Maximize ACCESS Allocations Request 12/12/23 - 02:00 PM - 03:30 PM EST

This live webinar is targeted toward researchers with the largest-scale resource needs. Maximize ACCESS Allocations represent the largest-scale opportunities available. Join the ACCESS Allocations team to discuss the required components, review criteria, and other information required to craft a successful Maximize request. 

Maximize requests are accepted from December 15 to January 31. They are reviewed in early March 2024, and successful requests will begin or renew on April 1.

Interactive computing refers to working with software that accepts input from the user as it runs. This applies not only to business and office applications, such as word processing and spreadsheet software, but HPC use cases involving code development, real-time data exploration and advanced visualizations run across one or more compute nodes. Interactive computing is often used when applications require large memory, have large data sets that are not that practical to download to local devices, need access to higher core counts, or rely on software that is difficult to install.

AI for Science Using NCSA's Delta 12/07/23 - 01:00 PM - 02:00 PM EST

NCSA is hosting a hands-on AI training series comprised of ten sessions to enable researchers to become proficient in using AI techniques on modern supercomputers. This series will be taught by experienced AI practitioners and cover basic, intermediate, and advanced AI topics.

Globus Office Hours 11/30/23 - 11:00 AM - 12:00 PM EST

Globus will be hosting a virtual office hours on Nov 30th at 10 a.m. CST. This office hours is scheduled to support users who are migrating  from Globus Connect Server v4 to v5. Our team will be available to answer general questions on the transition and migration tooling in advance of the discontinuation of Globus Connect Server v4, which will occur on December 18, 2023.

ACES: Introducing Intel PVC GPUs 11/07/23 - 11:00 AM - 01:30 PM EST

This short course (2.5 hours) provides an overview of Intel PVC GPUs, guidance on accessing these GPUs on the ACES computing cluster at Texas A&M High Performance Research Computing, demonstrations of running AI/ML models with the GPUs using PyTorch and Tensorflow, and demonstrations of molecular dynamics using LAMMPS.

Managing Python Packages on HPC 11/02/23 - 11:00 AM - 12:00 PM EDT

This workshop will go into the different ways python packages can be managed in a cluster environment using conda and python virtual environments both in batch mode from the command line and with Jupyter Notebooks and Jupyter Lab on the cluster. The examples will be run on the GMU HOPPER Cluster

 

ACES: NVIDIA Parabricks 10/31/23 - 02:30 PM - 05:00 PM EDT

Introduction to NVIDIA Parabricks, a software suite that allows users to perform secondary analysis of next generation sequencing DNA and RNA data. The software incorporated into NVIDIA Parabricks has been optimized to run on GPUs, drastically increasing the speed at which common NGS analyses and tasks can be completed. Exercises will be performed using the ACES cluster, a composable accelerator testbed at Texas A&M University.

ACES: RNA-seq and Differential Expression 10/31/23 - 11:00 AM - 01:30 PM EDT

This short course covers concepts of RNA-seq data analysis for differential expression, including quality control, reference-based read alignment, utilization of DESeq2, and data visualization in R.  Exercises will be performed using the ACES cluster, a composable accelerator testbed at Texas A&M University.

Science Gateways are also called research portals, virtual research environments, eScience, virtual labs, eResearch, digital repositories, or research cyberinfrastructure. 

GPU Computing and Programming on Expanse 10/26/23 - 02:00 PM - 03:00 PM EDT

This webinar provides a brief introduction to massively parallel computing with graphics processing units (GPUs) on the SDSC Expanse supercomputer. The use of GPUs is popular across all scientific domains both for traditional simulations and AI applications since GPUs can significantly accelerate time to solution for many data parallel computational tasks. In this webinar, participants will learn how to access Expanse GPU nodes, how to launch GPU jobs on Expanse, and get introduced to GPU programming.
