WEBINAR: The Open Storage Network as a Storage Solution for NSF CC* and Other Program Solicitations 03/19/24 - 03:00 PM - 04:00 PM EDT

In this webinar, we will introduce the storage network, discuss requirements for joining, and address how the OSN can help meet NSF CC* programmatic requirements. We will look at how organizations are using the OSN today, cover common workflows that we support, and look at opportunities on how OSN can be leveraged for future proposals with particular focus on AI/ML and generative AI workloads. We will then conclude with an open discussion to answer any questions.

ACES: AI/ML on Intel PVC GPUs 03/19/24 - 02:30 PM - 05:00 PM EDT

This short course (2.5 hours) provides an overview of Intel PVC GPUs, guidance on accessing these GPUs on the ACES computing cluster at Texas A&M High Performance Research Computing, and demonstrations of running AI/ML models with the GPUs using PyTorch and Tensorflow. 

Prerequisites: Current ACCESS ID; basic Linux/Unix skills; basic understanding of machine learning concepts, neural networks, and deep learning; familiarity with deep learning frameworks TensorFlow and/or PyTorch.

Hosted by the OSG Facilitation team, this training will cover what you need to consider when transitioning existing GPU-based code from another computing system to the OSPool. We will review important GPU concepts and terminology and how to request GPUs on the OSPool.

We will cover typical approaches to moving your computations to HPC resources – use of applications/software packages already available on the system through Linux environment modules; compiling code from source with information on compilers, libraries, and optimization flags to use; setting up Python & R environments; use of conda based environments; managing workflows; and use of containerized solutions via Singularity. This short course (2.5 hours) introduces researchers to Graphcore Intelligence Processing Units (IPUs) on the ACES cluster, a composable accelerator testbed at Texas A&M High Performance Research Computing. The instructor will demonstrate the execution of models from different frameworks on the IPU system, and participants will gain practical experience in converting TensorFlow and PyTorch code into IPU code through hands-on exercises.
