How do you build and sustain open-source tools that empower thousands of researchers? Join us to explore the story behind Tapis, an open-source API framework enabling collaborative, automated, and reproducible computational research. Developed and hosted at TACC, Tapis has supported more than 10,000 researchers worldwide. In In this talk, the team will share:

  • The origins and evolution of the Tapis project since its 2019 launch
  • How cross-institutional collaboration has driven its growth
  • Current funding and future plans for long-term sustainability

Don’t miss this inside look at one of the most impactful open-source frameworks in scientific computing.

Join us to learn about the development cycle of the open-source API framework known as Tapis.

The Tapis API framework is an open-source software system enabling collaborative, automated, and reproducible computational research. A hosted, software-as-a-service platform, the main Tapis installation running at the Texas Advanced Computing Center at the University of Texas at Austin has been used by more than 10,000 researchers. In this talk, we present the origins of the Tapis project and discuss its evolution since its initial launch in 2019. We'll describe how the project has attracted collaborators from different institutions and how that, in turn, has helped sustain the project. We'll conclude with a look at the current funding situation for Tapis and our future plans for sustainability.
